Now that we are getting into my era, we are coming on the music I distinctly remember. This album Tapestry by Carole King is still, in my estimation, one of the best of all time. The string of huge hits that came off this one LP has never been matched before or since. It marked her emergence as one of the premier singer/songwriters of the time. She had previously written a large number of songs for other people that had turned out to be huge hits but this was the first time she had really stepped fully into the spotlight herself.
I remember hearing James Taylor at a concert, while introducing You've Got a Friend commenting on how he would be forever grateful to King for allowing him to record it first before she did and made it into a huge hit for herself, even after Taylor did. It is hard to overestimate the impact that Carole King had with this song and this LP.
