As a huge Eric Clapton fan, I have always appreciated his love for and adaption of the classic blues tradition. While I am not sure Robert Johnson would recognize this version of his tune, I think he would be grateful to know that his music was still influencing and being adapted by musicians decades after his death. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yd60nI4sa9A
This is certainly a much higher energy version that Johnson's original but it also serves to illustrate the influence that Johnson and others had on Clapton's development as a guitarist.
Several of Clapton's solo albums have been heavily blues oriented. He has never made a secret of the fact that he used to listed to old blues records by the hour as a boy and that what he heard and learned to imitate greatly influenced his developing style.
